Maybe I was so out of it because I was so bored, but Jesus Christ I had no idea what was supposed to be happening in any given scene. Detective Inspector is borrowed from the Surete on special assignment for Scotland Yard in hopes that a fresh outlook will help the government recover the loot from the Great Train Robbery, which is being used to underwrite a new crime wave. Actually when Arkin tries to make the character his own with certain gags and scenes, it works much better to his and the film's advantage. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.9 and a MetaScore of 35. So perhaps not as hard for contemporary audiences to accept Alan Arkin in the role.

With good reason: Gambrelli is Clouseau's son. View production, box office, & company info. It has no association with Blake Edwards except for a credit for his creation of the character. Hence, they may be getting more than they bargained for when they bring him to London to solve a crime involving the loot from the Great Train Robbery. Så. Use the HTML below.
